A Petition to re-instate British Weights and Measures
To many people the battle for British Weights and Measures is already lost, despite the recent news from Brussels. Everybody knows it is just a temporary diversion, but it has given people the excuse not to put up a fight, has made them feel safe, for a while, no need yet to reach for the sword, which they know in their hearts will remain forever safely in its' scabbard. It's a relief to accept the inevitability argument. They don't like it, but it's only a matter of time so why bother. The apathy and resignation that afflicts the nation is reflected in the low turnout at the polls. We all know that no matter what we want, our leaders want something else, and whatever it takes they're going to get it. It's as if they are aliens from another planet and they don't know who we are, or if they do know, they don't like us very much. One of the most potent symbols of dominion is the metric system. It is in our context a declaration of control and indeed victory by our own Government and the EU., and is widely favoured by most of the worlds dictators for the same reasons. Then there are those who, enamoured of modernity, mistakenly think that base ten is new. When the Government can force us to weigh our babies in kilos and wet the mites head with a 500ml they will know we are beaten, and, forgive the paraphrase, the Prime Minister knows that he will have to defeat us in these Islands or lose the war. But defeat is not inevitable. We won our last war we can win this one. By signing this petition you can help to END EUROPEAN RULE. Reinstatement of British Weights and Measures is the first step to independence. It will demonstrate to those who have lost hope that resistance can work. It will also demonstrate that our Government are afraid of us when we unite. Sign this petition, get your family and friends to sign it. Be there on Crispins' Day.

European Free Trade Association
The website for the Association the UK was involved with before EU. It has slide shows and maps and graphs of a simpler alternative to the EU that is running already, if people would like to switch to something simpler.
